I first met Petter when I turned seventeen at a conference in Kansas City. We chatted at a booth about a ministry school he was a part of. Nine months later, I found myself at that school in Pasadena, CA, and Petter was the only person I knew. His little sister, Julie, was also a student at the school, and she and I became very close friends.

Petter was like a brother to me during my time in California and my time working with this ministry. The fun plus to our friendships was that Petter and his sister, Julie, were from Norway. And I loved hearing them talk to each other in Norwegian and talk about being Norwegian.

Twelve years have gone by since our time in Pasadena, and Petter and his family have always held a very sweet place in our lives. We’ve flown across oceans to be at each others’ weddings, and Petter’s sister and I even hung out in Ireland together one summer.

When Petter contacted me about shooting his wedding in Norway, Brandon and I were 100% yes. We were so excited to get to see our friends and be a part of their incredible day… and get to experience Norway.

Norway was a dream…every part of it. But the thing that we loved the very most was spending quality time with our Norwegian family. (And they truly are like family to us.) Petter and Sunniva’s wedding took place at a dreamy little horse farm called Torstad Gård in Hvalstad, Norway. We were the photographers, but we also got to be guests the day. And that was really great.

Two days before the wedding, we spent the day traveling into the mountains and shot photos of their first look near Gaustatoppen (see the session here.)
